So following up on our last post, we want to talk about what makes a great logo. We discussed how important it is to have a logo. Having an image that represents you and your company. An “image” that you put out into the universe that represents you and your brand. So now that you know how I feel about the importance of having a logo, let me tell you what makes a great logo.
It’s virtually impossible to capture every angle of a business from a logo alone. However, it’s important to try to tie in as much as possible while making your logo accessible and immediately enticing. Your logo should be simple and to-the-point. Here are 3 key factors that shoukd be considered when designing a logo.
1. Text – When starting your company everything is new. Your name, products and services. That means you need to get your business name out there. In the beginning stages of your business it may be “smart business” to incorporate your name into your logo. But wait it’s more than that. Your logo needs to represent the look and feel of your brand. Having a skilled graphic designer is important for this. They know how to use different fonts to convey different meanings and emotions to your audience.
2. Color – Colors are a key factor in a logo. Certain colors can convey certain emotions. So it’s important to choose wisely. Remember we stated that simple and to-the-point is key so it is important to keep your color selection to three colors or fewer. This will also aide in keeping your printing cost down when printing stationery, apparel and signage. You may even be able to get away with using one color. After doing some research on colors for a client here are some descriptive words that I came across that are associated with specific colors.
a. Red: bold, loud, sexy, edgy
b. Orange: creative, cheery, fun, youthful
c. Yellow: cheery, sunny, optimism
d. Green: growth, organic, instructional, environmental, health
e. Purple: wise, blissful, spiritual
f. Pink: flirty, youthful
g. Blue: professional, calming, trustworthy, dependable
h. Black: powerful, strong, masculine
i. White: pure, innocent, clean, simple, crisp
j. Brown: rural, historic
k. Grey: neutral, calm
3. Image/Graphic – In the last post we discussed how having an “image” to represent your business is important. This “image” can also be referred to as a graphic. This graphic will be used on stationery, clothing, in ads and on your website to name a few. Graphics that are created professionally from a graphic designer and not by using clip art are what you will need for your business. These graphics will allow your business to use them at different sizes and keep your businesses logo looking clean and professional. When considering the graphics/images used in your logo need to consider the longevity of the graphics/images. Your company will hopefully be using this logo for years so changing your logo or rebranding later will be an added expense and could even cause confusion with your customers.
I know all of this can seem overwhelming and confusing but the bottom line is you want to get your business noticed. You want your customers to understand who you are and what you do at a glance. In ordee to do that YOU NEED THE PERFECT LOGO!! These 3 things are the building block to getting your company the perfect logo. Is this something you can do yourself? Of course you can! Should you? That’s a different story. I personally believe that you should find a graphic designer that understands you, your business, passion and goals. Be sure to interview your prospective graphic designers. We will touch base on this topic in a later post. For now you have some work to do. Deciding what you think would make the perfect logo for your business. Hello my friends. I wanted to share with you a little Easter challenge that went out on Instagram. In today's world we are overtaken with so many options for party setups and party designs that sometimes we can get caught up in how someone else thinks you should decorate a dinner table, a dessert buffet table, a food table or even YOUR party. Here at Simple Designs by Jennifer we too get caught up in those same traps. The world of Pintrest has stolen countless hours of our time.
Our challenge was to show how ideas can fit any lifestyle, room or table. It's all about using your imagination and resources from previous holidays, parties, or just little gems you never thought about using for a party.
Our Bright and Sunshiney Easter collection was all about colors this year.I wanted to do something a little different and change from the classic pastel colors and use "Bright and Sunshiney" colors. So many of us have had such a long winter pastel colors were just not bright enough for me.
Our collection included an invitation, cupcake toppers, food tents, water bottle labels, thank you tags, and a welcome sign. Full of color. Our friend Genevieve from @simply_smashing_events (instagram user name) and www.simplysmashingdesign.com was the winner of our challenge.. I have to say she did an amazing job. From Genevieve, "Here is the table we had the party on and all of the printables that everyone LOVED! And our party favor "winners" table. They all got treats just in different sizes for the age groups. We had 4 bigger kids at this table and then we did some smaller kids tables in my living room. It was 10 families a bunch of them were little babies. It was a blast!
I will tell you this is the first time I have had the pleasure of working with Genevieve and she is truly a kind hearted talent lady. I can't wait for the opportunity to work with her again.
I styled a food buffet table for my family. I live in a small home that unfortunately doesn't have a ton of room for entertaining. When our family gets together we congregate in the kitchen while we cook and then eat all around the house. On my table I used items from previous parties, hand made tissue paper poms, and the decor from our Easter package.
I hope you enjoyed seeing how two people created two beautifully different tables. Simple Designs tries to keep your party planning adventures SIMPLE. That is our goal. Our team is here for you to reach out to if you need help or have questions. You can contact our team at email@example.com

SIMPLE PARTIES FOR THE EVERYDAY FAMILY.
We are happy to share with you our "American Football Collection". A simple way to celebrate your son/daughter's birthday. There doesn't have to be fireworks or flashes of light. There only has to be friends, family, and lots of love. This collection includes: a custom invitation, square cupcake toppers, centerpiece toppers, water bottle labels, thank you tags, and a custom banner. These photos are of my sons "birthday/superbowl party" from this weekends family celebration. Unfortunately, my son was cursed with a winter birthday, and living in the midwest. This means we never get to plan a birthday party because we are always unsure of what the weather will be like and who will be able to show up. However, he is blessed with great friends and family that love him and love coming for our famous "Superbowl Celebration". The best part of this birthday party is the decorations were all done for less than $100.... I'm not including food because this mama always cooks enough to feed an army. Please enjoy a glimpse into our celebration.
